We’re getting bigger!

The certainty of seeing Cholo for the first time this year gave me the spring in most of my activities last Saturday.

I woke up late than usual, my mind entirely pre-occupied with the images and expectations of the meeting that would happen that day. How could I miss an event so bad that I have not yet been into?

Cholo and I. Bromantic! :-)

I used for the first time my “home plus one” at the Fitness First branch in Eastwood City, where he is working. The additional 400 pesos of my entire four-month enrollment at the gym would simply account to seeing my long-lost buddy.

As I walked in the lounge, my head turned left to right, my feet here and there, just to see a glimpse of the skinhead before heading to the locker room. He’s nowhere to be found and I did not dare to ask where he is.

But there he was after I changed to workout apparels.

The perfectly shaven head sparkled as it hit the fluorescent light. The sleeves of his PT t-shirt hugged his larger-than-ever biceps. His height of 5’4” hasn’t changed.  That’s Cholo all right!

We met with our eyes. Wish I could give him the biggest hug possible, but it’s impossible as I don’t want to give other people the wrong idea of our brotherly relationship. The extent of the smile from his end was all about sweet nothing. I smiled back, our souls connected once again.

For my entire workout period, we were talking cautiously about our missing from each other—about how we stepped in becoming a personal trainer, to how we fell in love with running, to how the not-so bitter relationship with his girlfriend ended.

By 2:00PM we went to MOMO Restaurant at the Eastwood Mall for high-protein lunch. We talked about our schedules for some of the upcoming running events.

We bid the sweetest goodbye afterwards.

Bora night and getting wasted.

Cholo and I have already run the long distance of maturity, but not yet stepping on the finish line. I hope the friendship that is instilled would give us the endurance to strongly run the longer distance we call life.

We’re getting bigger!

By the way, Cholo is presently a Silver personal trainer of Fitness First – Eastwood City. He would really appreciate if YOU could be one of his clients in personal training. See him there and ask for his excellent fitness training services.

Thanks. I guess we really opted not to meet as we’re too busy lately. And yes, he’s really into running right now. He’ll be joining Run for Wellness this Sunday, March 7, at The Fort. Maybe you’re joining. :-)

      Have a great life ahead!
